Essential Tips for the morning of your Wedding Day

As the sun rises on the morning of your wedding day, emotions may run high as excitement and anticipation fill the air. However, amidst the flurry of last-minute preparations and nerves, it's crucial for both the bride(s)/groom(s) to start the day off on the right foot. Here are some helpful tips to ensure a smooth and stress-free morning before saying "I do."

  1. Get Plenty of Rest: I know this sounds obvious but it needs to be mentioned! While the temptation to stay up late with excitement may be strong, it's essential to prioritise a good night's sleep. Trust me, the night before my wedding day I was having the hardest time falling asleep. Some of my bridesmaids were crashing with me the night before and we tried everything… meditation… telling each other bedtime stories (lol)… eventually I did pass out but man it took a while. Beauty sleep will not only leave you feeling refreshed but also ensure you look your best for the big day ahead.

  2. Eat a Healthy Breakfast: Trust me, the morning of my wedding I was so excited I didn’t think I could eat. Nourishing your body with a nutritious breakfast is key to maintaining energy levels throughout the day. Opt for light and easily digestible foods such as fruits, yogurt, and carbs to keep hunger at bay without feeling weighed down/bloated.

  3. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate and HYDRATE: Start your day with a tall glass of water to kickstart hydration. With the hustle and bustle of wedding preparations, it's easy to forget to drink enough fluids. Keep a water bottle nearby and sip regularly to stay hydrated, energised and headache free. If you’re worried about peeing in a ball gown, have your wedding team hold your dress for you - I know this sounds awkward but when you gotta go… you gotta go!

  4. Delegate Tasks: Don't be afraid to delegate tasks to your wedding party or family to alleviate stress-this is your day! Your feet should be up and enjoying the morning! Whether it's picking up flowers, running errands, or being the morning DJ (huge, important responsibility), assigning responsibilities will allow you to focus on enjoying the moment… and a mimosa or two.

  5. Flat Lays: Speaking of delegating tasks… If you wanted a flat lay photo of your invitation, love letters or special photos of physical items have someone find all the items in a tote or bag ahead of time. This way, when your photographer arrives, they can take everything you want photographed and get the shots.

  6. Dress and Prep in Comfort: Choose comfortable clothing to get ready in. Something with buttons or a loose fit. Whether you're donning a luxurious robe or cozy loungewear, opt for attire that allows you to move freely, relax and easily removable after your hair and makeup is done without the need to sweat.

  7. Be Prepared with Accessories: If this is your first time wearing a bow tie or a tie, take the time before your wedding day to learn how to tie one on yourself and/or others. Same thing goes for your wedding party, that way, everyone can help each other out!

  8. Stay Connected with Your Partner: Take a moment to connect with your partner before the festivities begin. Whether it's a heartfelt note, a first look, a first touch… cherish this time together before the whirlwind of the day unfolds. Trust me, the day will fly by. One moment your getting your suit/dress on… and the next moment you’re cutting your wedding cake!`

  9. First Look: If you are planning on doing a “first look”, “first touch” or private vows, schedule an extra few minutes to just be with your partner and catch up from the morning festivities. This will create a pause in the day and take in whats happening.

By following these simple tips, you can set the stage for a calm, relaxed, and memorable wedding morning. Remember to savor each moment and embrace the joy and love surrounding you as you embark on this new chapter together. As I finish writing this blog post I’m already thinking of tips I missed - so stay tuned for part 2!

All the love,
